Oppositions

The main purpose of a trademark is to protect your brand from infringement, and one of the most common forms of infringement comes from new trademark applications. These are confusingly similar names filed in the same or adjacent goods and services that conflict with your prior registration. To help combat this, during registration, there's a set period that allows previous owners to oppose new applications if they believe they might infringe on their mark.
